Took mine out today in the rain. Me and fatboy took our 850's, and my 15 year old daughter took the kawi. Had a riot in the mud and the slick clay. XP's do great donuts!! Then we needed both our winches to pull out a renegade 500 that was 10 feet under water. Literally. Guy driving it got too close to the deep end of the pond and tail slid in. I did break my trunk latch though. Bet Polaris wants alot for one of those!

2 months left on warranty, I still doubt they'll cover it. I'm calling today. I lost a dust cover off one of my hubs too.

With the exception of the backfiring (corrected by adjusting the throttle cable) I had zero issues.

Just washed and greased mine. Boy those front upper A-arm zerks suck to get to. Still and amazing machine. Does anyone remember when they stopped using the Nicasil liners?? I found the build date today while cleaning it. 30 Nov 08.

I've never seen a date associated with it...but I want to say around Dec builds is when we started seeing the iron.. You can know for sure pretty easliy though. Pull the seat and look down at the back of the valve cover there should be a sticker with an number on it...
EH0850LE011 is Nicasil
EH0850LE012 is Iron Lined

BTW I find it easier to get to the front upper Zerks by using a hose attachment and come through from the opposite side..ie stick it through the frame then reach across underneath the machine and guide it to the Zerk.

I have an 09 550 XP in camo. I love this machine and it is awesome. Only had one minor problem so far, but hey that's why they give you a warranty. I dont regret my decision at all for buying this machine. I spent countless hours researching which machine to buy, so the 550 obviously made an impression on me. I admit the stock tires leave you wanting more. What do you think about the MUDLITE XTR. They look awesome to me. Any imput?

The 850 is amazing, the only issues I have had, I know why. Not the machines fault. I ride this machine very hard in all types of terrain. In the snow it is by far the best thing I've seen.
I upgraded to the xp from an 08 800, huge difference! Not only in power but stability and comfort. However, if you just ride slow semi-level terrain and don't need the extra speed and power, then why upgrade?
Now, if your into hills and pushing the limits, its definetely worth it.
I worry about the ball joints etc..... only because I've read about failures. I check them regularly and see no problem. This quad jumps and wheelies every time it is out.
I ride with a big bore group and we are very competitive, its not perfect, but better than the competition in 95% of situations.
