scrambler no spark

Default scrambler no spark

i have a 97 scrambler 500 it turns over but there is no spark as soon as i hit the starter button it put spark out but it stops and when i let off of the button it does the same the pull rope has been broke for a while so i took the cover off and the pull rope was shreaded in there i cleaned it and every thing seens to be ok

sounds like its grounding itself off if your having fire until you let off. is the switch good? would it fire and run w/ the pull cord?

there is no pull rope on it now

it will start if you push the start button on and off fast but if you just hold the start button it wount start it just turns over

does your switch the type that has the starter switch and the kill switches combined into one? have to push up on the switch for the starter and kill is side to side?

if so i would try cleaning that switch assembly. what i did on mine was find a bike that had two seperate buttons for the two functions then wired into my electrical..works fine now

have you figered out the problem i am having the same problem with the same model scrambler and cant figer it out thanks

i figered out the problem the pulse controler on the left side of the flywheel has been pushed back from the flywheel push it back closer to the wheel it fixed mine
