Belt Drives are reliable and have been solid technology for quite some time now. I don't see them pulling a "Honda" out of thin air. It just wouldn't make sense.

Everyone is using CVT's except Honda and that's why they can't make high H.P. True 4x4 machine. its cost prohibitive for them to build it with their automotive style transmissions.

It would make sense if they have a revolutionary new design for the tranny, kinda like the cvt once !!! Polaris's R&D is constantaly looking for ways to put/keep them ahead of the compitition. I'm very intrested to see what they come out with. ROFL..although from experience...I wont be buying any of the 1st year models.

My source indicated that it was being done because of the power being produced by the new high end engines. Supposedly they were approaching the limit of the current CVT design so something new was developed.

He's been pretty accurate in the past. I guess we'll see in a year or so.

If they replaced the belt drive CVT with an automotive style CVT that was more compact and lighter, that would be cool. By the way, there's been talk of Polaris replacing the CVT with something else for awhile now.

Which Polaris "Sport Quad" uses CVT? I thought the Outlaws used a clutch?

The only Polaris "sport" quads w/cvts are the Scrambler, Trailblazer, and Phoenix. Coincidentally, they're also about the only models in Polaris' line up that haven't been updated, so it's about time.

Stock sleds are running 150 ponies on a CVT.

It makes no sense, Polaris get rid of belt drive on there weaker ATVs but keeps belts on there 120 mph 150-170 hp sleds. Hummmm.
