I pasted a link below which is similar to what I read but the link is not bike OEM vs aftermarket filters but it will give you a good idea to how different filters can be. I always stay'd with Honda and Kawi based on that review and until I see a review of Polaris I will stick with them.

Sorry if this is old info I didn't read the whole thread. The part # for the oil change kit is 2877473.
It is for both the 550 and the 850.

I buy the Polaris oil change kit at the dealership for $30 ,the box says "For ALL single cylinder Polaris ATVs" it includes two quarts of synthetic oil and a filter. Not a bad deal.

$30 seems like alot. i just paid 12 for the filer and 6 per quart at the dealership. thats 24 for what your paying. and the polaris mechs told me to put atleast 2 quarts in then start for 5 mins the check oil and add if you neeed to.

weedy-why do i have to use synthetic oil? synthetic oil i just dont know about. i havent read to much on it so i dont know what to think. which is better to use? synthetic or non?

synthetic is by far superior to regular oil in almost every way IMO

I got my filter at Napa, for $6, and the Mobil 1 0W-40 for $7 a quart

I think TLC is in Canada, that's why the price seems a little high. If not, then it is high. I get 2 quarts of AMSOIL and a NAPA gold filter for less than that. I think my dealer charges around $25 for the Polaris kit.
