hi people

looking at a polaris sportsman 1998, the seller claims it is a 700, but from the research i have done i can only come up with a 500 was made
it has green plastics, i have not yet seen this bike just doing my homework before i drive 3 hours to look at it

can anybody confirm what size it is and any known problems with this bike
it is a australian model polaris if that helps
any pics of this model would be much appreciated

The 700 was only released in 2002. The 500 is a single cylinder while the 700 was a twin....

 

500 was the largest Polaris till 2002, didnt even start the 500 ho till 2001.

as mentioned the 700's didnt come out until 02' and the 01' year was the better version HO's. the early model 500's had cam issues. here is a picture of a 98' 1998 Polaris Sportsman 500 **SOLD** - Texas Fishing Forum
if its that old it might need new front end parts just from normal wear and fluid changes if it hasnt been done regualy. imo
