XP 850 Help...WARN RT30 Install
#11
*** Update ***
The KFI winch mount is a good solid product, but was a bit of a pain to work with when the winch was installed. The reason was that there was no way to connect the blue and yellow wires to the winch with it mounted to the ATV. The WARN contact points are in close towards the wire spool...and the space between the winch contacts and the winch mount did not allow for the nut to be installed and tightened.
That was the toughest part of the install.

I was fortunate enough to find this out while installing mine - same setup, KFI mount w/xt30 - got it all bolted up, looked at the terminals and proceeded to use a few choice expletives after realizing I had to remove the entire thing to get the wires on.

THEN after finally getting it all wired up and bolted in....noticed I FORGOT THE DANG RUBBER TERMINAL BOOTS. So I'm about to rinse and repeat one more time, this time using liquid electical tape as well - after reading about it online...cant hurt. Total PITA to get to those terminals tho...

Also, did your front metal trim piece fit ok after install? I had to basically leave all bolts loose, including the fairlead on the front, then PUSH the trim peice up to get the bolts in, then tighten all the bracket/fairlead bolts - it was a pretty tight fit where the trim piece fits under the fairlead...

Stealth,
Yes, I had a pretty tight fit on the front metal trim pieces. Had to loosen a few bolts and slide them in. Once in however, they appear to allow clearance.

The install instructions should mention a tight fit...and prepare the installer some. But overall I am extremely satisfied with the install and products used.
