How do I bench test a starter???

Default How do I bench test a starter???

What is the proper way to bench test a starter and what should happen if its good, or bad? Thanks.

Just use jumper cables and a good battery,ground cable to mounting tab on starter,then touch positive to connection post. Either wont run, or will spin fast ,not noisy(good), or run slow and noisy(going out)

Secure it or hold on pretty good cause it will jump. Did a car one once that jumped off bench fell on floor & busted off sol lug.

Thats the best advice. It will surprise you how much torque it will have running free

my timberwolf wouldnt get any power was because the selenoid was coroded can test it by using something metal to jump across bypassing the selenoid
