Unbalanced tire vibrations at higher speeds on 08 Sportsman 500
I was wondering if anybody else has noticed that the stock polaris carlisle PXT tires that come stock on sportsman atv's shimmy at higher speeds. I was riding a stretch of dirt road that turns into pavement for a while and the shimming was terrible. Is there any way to balance your rims? The tire shop looked at me like I was crazy when I asked them if you could balance them.

iv got the same issue. not to mention there an atv off road tire not a high speed car tire. mine shakes like a la earthquake. but for the amount of weights its gona take to get it to ride smooth. it gona cost. if it could be balanced. i personaly dont think it can be balanced. for as much as mine shakes. if yours is shakes as much as mine good luck.

the pxt radials are a big differnce in the ride and handling department in my opinion as wear they are radials vs. bias tires. just a side note, but make sure the rim is nt bent or anything else. maybe even jack that area up to make sure the wheel is turning freely and its not any other issues like a bad bearing. imo

My 2008 500 is the only one that shimmies. I noticed my 08 has no weights on the front rims, but my 2007 500 has weights on both sides and that machine rides smooth no shimmies at all. Both have the aluminum mags from factory. Just wondering why popo didn't balance all of there wheels from the factory? That shimming in time just wears stuff out in my opinion.

The wheel shimmy was pretty bad on the dirt road. But once I hit a stretch pavement It was really obvious. I have also heard that you can flat spots on these soft carlisle tires if you let your atv sit for a while on the concrete. I guess thats why they recommend you jack the machines up on jack stands to get them off the tires.
