01 Sportsman 500 oil leak

Default 01 Sportsman 500 oil leak

I know this is vauge but its all I know at this point.

I have a oil leak abou tsize of a dime . It is in the center of the Bike I noticed it build up on the center of the skid plate then dripped off . About a quarter size from yesterday on garage floor.

I cant see where its coming from any idea what I could check/tighten

Check around the the sump drain plug washer,have had a couple seep from this area

Have you ever replaced the "washer" on the drain plug??

No I havent , I probadly should , I will check it out and see if thats where its coming from. I just gave it an oil change this weekend ,So would hate to loose the oil but if I have t oI have to

Wipe the drain plug let it sit and check again later to see if thats the spot. I have a small leak from the base gasket betwwen the crankcase and bottom of clylinder.

I have the same leak, but mine is a big one!! My base gasket is gone, good news is it's only $88 for parts, but the bad news is $450 labor!!!

I manage to acually stop the leak, I clean it very well and smeared a high temp silicon at the base/cylinder connection and its held up for 2 seasons now.

Glad to see theres hope !

I will check it out again tonight. Its not leaking much so hope to fix it before it turns into something
