Need some advice, OPT?

Working on a ranger 700, it wont idle, can make it idle with throttle cable and it runs fine otherwise, thinking its probably the t-bap sensor, am I on the right track? Have you had this happen before with EFI machines?

Not sure on the Ranger but the quads do have an adjustment on the throttle cable that can cause what you are talking about. In the throttle housing there are two contacts that must be about a 16th of an inch apart. If they make contact the quad will stall. Maybe the Ranger has a similar setup? At least, on the quads, it's pretty simple to fix. Just adjust the throttle with the adjuster that is a foot or so from the throttle housing. Hope this helps.

If have to keep it running by adjusting throttle cable way up,then possible tps or t-bap harness problem causing the problem. It should idle even if the cable has excess slack! Thats the job of the tps and t-bap sensors and or the harness connector wire(s) have a short?

The harness on the rangers have good slack in them, I shook it around, unplugged it and it didnt change anything, I think I have a good sensor around here somewhere, Ill change it out and see what happens, good thing I never throw "good" stuff away, thanks guys.
