04 700 efi twin missing problems
#1
Hello all, I was hoping someone might be able to help me out here. I have the 04 700 twin efi sportsmans quad, and it hasn't been rode that hard for quite a while, mainly just settin in the barn lately, but its spring/summer time so i decided to change the oil and filter. after doing that it's just made a few trips from the barn to the house, and all of a sudden it started missing. It will start up and idol just fine, but when i put it in gear it starts to missing and won't hardly even pull its self! I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I am pretty familiar with working on things, I just don't know where to start on some of the newer stuff. Thanks in advance to any and all help!

You might check your intake manifold to throttle body for cracks, plus if ok could be a short in the t-bap harness on the throttle body. Might jiggle wires and see if improves, plus check all small sensor wires for abrasions or cuts. Harness repair kits are available for the TPS and T-bap sensor. Sensor failures are rare, usually the harness.ALSO if "just settin in barn',for how long? bad gas? Do you use a fuel stabilizer for extended storage? Plus if has original Champion or replacement Champion plugs,CHUNK em and replace with NGK BKR7ES

CHECK ENGINE light or are you referring to the WRENCH light? If wrench light, should go out after a short time when running ,IF its the check engine light and stays on,then possible elec problem on efi system.

Check the spark plug boots and wires while changing plugs, both of mine came apart inside causing it to miss.

well i changed the plugs and no difference. oil wouldn't have anything to do with it would it? The plugs i took out looked dam near brand new on the end, no crude or anything. nice white electrodes. i shook around on the senser on top of the air intake but no big difference. It will set there and run just fine, but as soon as ya try to move it, it starts missing and won't even hardly carry it's self.

Check your plug wires, I had a similar situation on my 04 700 where it would idle fine but wouldn't run when the gas was applied, it was the plug wires where they pass by the frame had wore through, couldn't see it until I removed the wires themselves, also if your battery is low it will cause the loss of power when trying to give er the gas. Also the diagnostic code was telling me it was an injector code 51 I believe, which it wasn't - new plug wires and she ran good as new.
