Default 99 sportsman 500 problems

I was wondering if anybody has had any problems with their 99 sportsman 500 as opposed to the newer models.

Somebody has a 1999 Sportsman 500 for 3600, I am trying to get him down to 2,500! It only has 200 miles on it! And it is rust free. It does have a few scratches on the panels but nothing horrible. It has the winch built in. It comes with a storage box. How much do you think it is worth?

Would it be a reliable ATV?

yea i would say.. is that what the speedo says? it may have more than that... the spedo's go out alot in them..as we speak my top end is being done..

i would make sure everything is tight... like joints and such.. not like its much to replace.. probly like 200 or a little more for all the bushings on the whole quad.. but def listen to the motor.. if it sounds like there is a ping, ting, or knock,.. there is alot more than 400 miles on it.. i would venture to say that unless you are buying it from a 80 year old man that just died or somthing.. i think it has more miles,,, the guy i bought mine from said it had 2500 miles on mine.. and it is in excellent condition, im doining the top end just to make sure i dont mess anything up sounds like there was a little knock.. anyway i would prolly buy another one for sure... i seen on my greenbay craigs list a 08 sp 500ho for 4200 i think... man i wish i had that...

I haven't bought it yet. But I think I will. He said it has never seen snow or mud. He changed the oil often. He said he never left it outside. It was always stored in a heated garage. He said that a dealer would give him 3,000 for it trade-in-value for a UTV. So he said he couldn't come lower then 3,000 for me.

Thanks for your help Harley. I think I found a better deal, 2004.5 Polaris Sportsman 500 in very good condition with only 658 miles on it for 3,000! Tell what you guys think is a better deal.
