I have replaced two bendix drives on 99 sportsmans and did not need to remove the flywheel.

Just wiggle the bendix out a little and some turning and twisting along with moving the flywheel around will enable you to get it out. Dont forget the washer behind the bendix that might stick

Excellent ! I took all the bolts out around the receoil but it seems stuck on there pretty well still almost looks like sealant around it. Should it remove easy after bolts out if so I will see if I missed one or something

Thanks again

ok I swapped the Bendix thats the good news bad news I still have same issue. If I go to start it it sounds like its just spinning and not hitting the flywheel. It will start abou 1 out of 4 or 5 times I try.

Also whats intresting is if I tighten th erecoil starter down and use elec start it just clocks but if I loosen each screw half turn on recoil start it will then try to fire up any ideas ?
