Polaris Discussions about Polaris ATVs.

Is there a decent looking way to modify the front fenders on a SC500 4x4 so you don't get sprayed with mud?

I would think that you might be able to adapt a set of front/rear fender flares off a Gen II style Polaris ATV and just buy all the mounting hardware just drill the holes and mount the flares it should look all right.

Hey packrat I don't know how you can get that covered on that machine because about the only way that I get coveredin mud is by the rooster's that my friends throw at me. Or when I get off the machine to get unstuck. The Gen IV machine's I hardly have to wash off my clothes.

The dealer sells front and rear flare kits for 89 or 99 bucks a piece, My friend put a set on his last fall, you have to drill holes in the plastic but everything lined up really nice, You dont get the mud spray anymore but the bike does look more like a utilty machine when you do it so I guess it is give and take. If you want I could get a couple pics of his and e-mail them to you.

if you take off the stock "mudflaps' off under the fenders. go to NAPA or some other auto parts store and buy some truck mudflaps that are a little bigger so they stick out farther than the stock ones it should work. it works for me. all you have to do is drill holes in the new ones

express300, I guess where I ride this time of the year its hard to stay clean on anything. How do you not get muddy when the factory tires stick out two inchs past fenders on back and about one inch on front. The last 3 times I've been out the ground was thawing and that stuff was like glue sticking to the tires throwing mud all over me.

Well up here at he moment I haven't seen a day above freezing for three month's. On the Xpress the tires are completely under the fender flares. That is why i don't get covered in mud.

Even with the extention mud flaps I still would get covered or at leat sprayed. The front tires always tend to make a small amount of water spray on my goggles. I removed my fender extentions to make my quad look more sporty. Check out the site below and you will see some pics with the extentions in place.

If it were up to me I would cut the front plastic like the DS650 and add those cool looking "small pieces" behind the tires.
