Tightening of center drive chain
#1
Hey Guys,
I have a 97 Polaris magnum 4X4, and I am kind of new at the whole general repair thing. I have changed all the fluids and replaced a busted started last week; however, I am getting stumped on tightening of the center chain on this thing. I have tried to follow what the manual tells me to do but still seem to be lost. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tyler

You should just be able to loosen the cap screw just above the front sprocket on the center drive chain and adjust to 1/4" freeplay on the chain. The adjuster bolt should have a groove to slide in for adjustment. Hope this helps.

Im working with him on this, does the whole eccentric housing move or jus the internals to the eccentric. We put the screw driver through the sprocket into the eccentric hole and rocked er good and ended up breaking part of the eccentric hole. No internal damage though, that was good.

You can take a large rod or something large and long and hit on the ears of the eccentric , it moves toward the rear, dont hit it hard enough to break the ears, did you loosen the bolts enough and spray it good with some lube?
