I was thinking that both suspensions were setup to safely haul a 230 pound passenger or was that a 250 pound passenger. Either way I was thinking that both 2 up versions the T and X2 were sprung the same.

I would say go for it, after a little research with a dealer of course. It really bothers me how they went with only two colors for the 850 T. The blue, it's ok, but not for everyone, and the red just looks a little outdated with the newer solar red out. If the touring was nuclear sunset , they would sell a ton to the soccer mom type families that ride 2 Up.
I don't see a nuclear color on anything except the Rzr, so I wouldn't doubt a late release of an LE model if the touring sells well.

Notice also that the 550 X2 has 4 wheel disk braking. The regular 550 only has 3 disk brakes like the older sportsmans. I wonder if the 850 and EPS could be put into the 550 X2 for a model offered from Polaris.

The pictures are a little goofed up with some of the models. i wonder if maybe we are missing something. There are older sportsman touring pics in with the 550 X2 pics.

I am sure if there is enough will to do the resarch and labor, and also enough money to cover not only the cost of the T but all the parts needed to convert it to an X2 , that it could be done.

I am more afraid of the possibilty that I would end up with a couple grand in the conversion cost, then Polairs would come out with one just like I was wanting for 2 grand less, about the time I got finished with the conversion.

I agree the colors suck. The only way to attempt this converison and have it look right would be to go with the red, since both the T and the X2 are availble in the same red color. The blue T or the green X2 would be a problem, since those colors are not offered on the other.

There was a picture on the HL of what looks like a sunset orange Touring model. Its on a stage with two people setting on it, with some smoke around it. I think there most likely some LEs we have not herd about yet.

I noticed there pics are all jacked up, they also call the 550 x2 a twin, in the overview section, when its really a single. I am not sure what is up with the brakes, I just wonder if its a misprint like them calling a single a twin.

That one on the stage was the one I was reffering too, looks like the sunset orage color to me, on the other hand I guess it could be just a red one and looks like sunset orange in the pic.

Not sure on the other pics not all of them are showing up to compare them.

As for them still offering the 500 Toruing, I suspect polaris is trying so sell off some remaining parts stock and decided to keep the 500 T around a little longer as an entry level machine to help with the process.
