I spoke with a Polaris dealer today, they are also a Suzuki dealer and had the EPS 750 KQ I had been looking for in stock. So after we struck a deal on the KQ we go to talking about the 2010s Polaris lineup.

He said he would be willing to try and work with me anyway they could on trying to turn a 850 EPS T into a X2 like I am wanting, with parts from the 550 X2. He says they ordered some of both styles and as soon as they come in, we are going to take a look at them side by side and see what is what on both models and if the Touring could be converted into an X2 like we are thinking it can.

Hey CC, the X2 has 400 lb. springs in the rear. That's for the load the tilt box can carry. I haven't been on the Touring but it is the same wheelbase and I think about the same length. You'd probably need to take the plastics off the X2 from the footwells back and somehow install the dump bed frame on the 850. There are also some latches if it is like my older model X2 that would need to come off the X2 and be installed on the T. Let us know if it works out. I hope they come out with an 850 X2 with power steering. I think that would be the last quad I'd ever need. I love the versatility of the X2.

There is some hope still I guess. There is a dealer on HL that thinks that what I said about how in 08 the only way to get an 800 X2 was when the black LE models came out later in the year. He seemd to think that could pretty easily happen again. I sure hope so, that would sure be a lot easier than trying to build one out of a T model.

Are you saying the springs are heavier on the X2s than the Ts. If so that might be an unexpected plus in building one out of a T model. I always thought they were the same but that was just an assumption really.

I think they rate the T rear at 230 lbs. and the X2 rear at 400 lbs. So, I think they are probably different springs. The X2 was the first quad that Polaris put the angled rear suspension that helps soak up bumps pretty nicely. I think they now use it on the XPs and the Touring.

Am I the only one who thinks the smaller gas tanks on the Touring models is a disappointment?

Nope, I wish they all had the same 6 gallon tank that the X2 has.

Even though we didn't get what we all wanted on the new X2........the new X2 is a radical change from the former model. The ride of my 07 X2 is soft but sporty enough to feel the trail. I'm curious to hear of any ride comparison of the two models. Choices of an 850 engine along with EPS for the 2010 X2 would have been a good thing....imo. One little thing that I can't understand is the limited choices of colors. Sage green and Red in one model and both of these plus Black and Camo in another.....what's so difficult about offering more color choices? The dwindling gas tank capacities are a drag.....Polaris should consult RotoPax for some ideas on OEM add-ons.......OK , one more item....I would like to see more attention paid to the handlebar area. Built-in hand guards or mini-fairings along with hand guards. Check out some of the other brands two up models....the built-in hand guards and such don't look bad at all. Just an opinion or two.

The Fuel tank size is disapointing. But not really a big suprise since its in the nose section on the new XP chassis and the longer verisons use the same front sections as the 2009 model single seat models.

Nojoke, What 2 up model did you see that was available in the Black and camo?

I think in 2007 the camo and silver /black was available. In other words, if the 850 XP comes in 4 different color choices, why not the X2, Touring....etc.

I agree 100%,they need more color choices, the red and green or red and blue in the case of the T model are not going to cut it.

My dream setup would be a stealth black X2 like my 08' 800 X2, except in the new XP chassis with EPS like my 09' 850. Basicly merge my two favorite machines in the stable into one.

I miss having room for all my gear and the ice chest , but I am also super spoiled by the 850s EPS, so much so that I no longer really like riding anything without EPS.

So if they would just merge my two favorite machines into one and not half azz it like they are with the 2010s, they would be selling me one ASAP.
