Stalled when exhast was under water.

I was out on an all day ride this weekend on my 500 HO and on one of the last mud trails we went through we came to a mud/water crossing. It was only maybe 10ft across but was over the tires. Went in and on the way out it was a big bank that we all got stuck on. The quad was in a position with the front tires up on the bank with the rear end sitting in the water. Pretty mush just the tail pipe and back tires were under. As I was trying to get traction up the bank my revs droped graduallly and stalled. I was on the gas so that the exhaust would have lots of back pressure but it didn't help. Went ti start it and it would start. had to winch a couple of feet to crest the back and get the exhaust out of the water and then she started. No one else stalled in the water and if they did they were able to start it again. I was dissapointed since I was the only POPO and all the yammy and BRP guys were shaking their heads. Should of it stalled since I was on the gas to keep the revs up? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It all depneds where the water hit. Water could have gotton under the spark plug cap or other places. As long as it did not get in the motor no harm was done. Check your oil to see if it is a brown color (milkshake looking). If so change oil immediately.
I have ridden with all brands since 1999 and all are prone to staling in high wather. I have owned four SP 500s (01, 02, 04 and 05) and have found them to be one of the best in water.
