I don't have my machine in front of me to know (and it's 150 miles away at the moment), but the Warn stickers should be upside down and the terminals are on the right side as you are viewing the front of the ATV. The dial to engage/disengage the spool is on the left. At least that's how mine went together with no cutting involved. I don't have the instructions here either otherwise, I'd look to see just what they said. I do remember having to wire the winch up before mounting to the plate but otherwise, there were no issues. It may also be possible the winch plate was installed upside down...the window kind of opposite the fairlead should be on top IIRC. I'll be able to get pics on Thurs night/Fri if interested.
Cheers,

Pure Polaris : WARN® RT 3.0 Winch)
If you are buying the kit from polaris you will get the polaris mount(warn makes them for polaris and had to sign a no compete clause..That is why there is no warn mount for the xp..That is what warn told me when I called them)

My 550 was prewired from the factory with wires on the left and they were too short to re-route. I've still got the instr. from KFI and will double check in the am but know they show winch mounted (decals rightside up). Would have been a lot easier if I had gone the Polaris/Warn way for the extra $150.

That is exactly how mine is mounted also.

Me personally would rather mount the winch right side up, I'm sure it would more and annoyance thing than a performance thing but it would still bug me. I'm assuming the polaris/warn mount places the winch right side up?

Yes that is correct. But for those of us that already had a winch we are forced to go aftermarket for the winch mount. Polaris will not sell just a winch mount. They only come in a "kit" with a winch. Stupid IMO. Now I will be buying a warn plow instead of the glacier system because you need the polaris mount for the plow to mount correctly.

I'll see if I can get some pics up this weekend of my install. I also installed the remote connector which makes it a little handier to use. As for mounting upside down, well it kind of bugged me at first but to be honest, you really can't see it after getting it all installed unless you're looking for it.

I wasn't aware the Polaris plows wouldn't work with an aftermarket winch plate so I too will be buying a non-oem solution. I'm not too worried about it as there are a few non-Polaris plows that are cheaper and come with good reviews. Had Polaris offered the plate at a price near what the KFI costs, I probably would have bought it instead. But the KFI has worked well for me.

Yea I found this out on the kfi website. It states there mount will not work with glacier plow. The polaris winch mount has 2 threaded holes toward the bottom of the mount that the plow mount bolts to. I cant remember the thread but a member posted pic's of the polaris mount with the threaded holes in it.

I'm afraid that if you run the winch upside down, that the electricity will fall out of it just when you really need it. I wonder how that works in Australia? LOL

Seriously though, I don't mind that things may have to be modified or changed to make them fit, but please, TELL ME UP FRONT, and let me decide to buy or not. No surprises please.

SORRY KFI, I WAS WRONG ! ! !

The diagram DOES show the terminals on the right side in the directions. I wired it the way I've always done, freewheel lever to the right, decals right side up, & terminals to the side where the wires are run.

Nothing wrong with your (KFI) product.
