Real important piston guestion?????
#1
SO I just went to the shop after work today to get my new piston and motor that had just been bored out. I was walking back to the car and popped the trunk to put the motor in and the new piston in the box slipped off the top of the motor onto the concrete and the damn box had to come open- I WAS HOT
(
The piston looks practicly flawless, but it did catch the concrete on the edge of the top of the piston about half an inch around the top edge.
Along the side of the piston you really cant feel anything Smooth) but on the top edge side you can barely feel some roughness. It is minute, but I need some opinions on this one. URRRRRRR!
Thanks!

The only thing I would worry about is the ring land. Put the ring in the ring land and rotate it around the piston and make damn sure it does not hang up. Not even in the slightest.
Sounds like your fine though.

It wouldn't hurt to have the shop measure your piston......takes but a few seconds........ but there won't be a problem if it didn't hit the skirt, as for the roughness that if it realliy bugs you ... touch it up with some 300 grit paper. Your piston will have a layer of carbon on it after running it for a few hrs anyway. They don't stay nice and shiny for long!

Thanks for the responses- I did take it by the shop after work.
The machinist who did my engine work said it was junk, JOKING w/ me
, then said no it was fine. He just ever so slightly filed it and siad it would be ok.
Thanks
