So the XP can not slowly creep away from a dead stop while in high range?

 

Creep! More fun to nail the throttle

If you watch the RPM's and see where your engagement is you can creep away, comes in handy climbing over rocks going uphill or onto a trailer. It takes very little throttle to move a 850 and one of the first things I learned when I did a wheelie loading it on the trailer at the dealer. I think a different throttle with a little more play might be a improvement.

 

whit terracross 26" new so a bit bigger than the one because of the tread design i do 42 on my gps in low gear and yes a was on the rev limiter.

 

On my 2010 850 xp two up I've driven along at 33mph with no problems higher revs but never off the limiter.I know anything uder 7mph is recommened to sstay in low but if it will do 30 plus I keep it in low on all the rough trails.
Forgot to shift it in low once and spun the belt now the machince in down to around 65mph in high.Only have 500 miles on it but haven't blew a belt yet and drive in everything mud snow water all the stuff that just kicks bikes *** but she still runs great

 

Sleds vs atv - there are a lot of variables of why and how the belts hold up. Most sleds idle at 12-1600rpms and engage at 3000-4000 rpms. Most aftermarket kits for the performance sleds engage 4000-5000 rpms. Peak rpms will run from 7200-8500 rpms.

But the sleds vs atv clutches and how and why things work is a whole other discussion.

On the 850 XP's from what I have seen they have been decent over all for belt ware. Anyone can get a bad belt and misuse or driver error. Thats has to be up to the driver to be informed and determine if it was caused by the driver or not. Yes it does suck to blow a belt within that time, I would talk to your dealer and see if he can do anything. I surely wouldnt get rid of my wheeler or switch brands over it.
