Looking to upgrade my tires. I live in Minnesota, so I play in the mud and snow. As far as mud goes I wheel in some pretty nasty stuff, so I need an aggressive tire that rides well and is durable. I have a 2007 Polaris 500 Sportsman and I was curious of what would be the best fit for my wheeler and for something I can mount to existing stock rims. I believe my current tire size is 26x8R12; PXT and 26x11R12; PXT Cast Aluminum Rims. Please correct me if I'm wrong everything is stock on the wheeler, so yeah hoping for some helpful feedback. Thanks.

 

Zillas.

They are light and should fit with the stock rims on the front, being the tie rod ends are rather close.

Can someone confirm that zillas will fit using the stock rims?

 

Not sure if they'll fit on the stock rims. Zilla's are 10" wide up front 12" in back. Tirescheap has some great tire/rim combos on ebay. I got a set of 14" ITP SS106 rims w/ 27" Zilla's for a little over $600 shipped. They had 26" kits for @ $100 less.

yes they should fit the stock rims. Last week I mounted a set of zilla's for my buddy on his 600 sp. 26x11x12 and 26x9x12 No issues at all. I actually liked them better than my mudlite's. So far after some serious test riding on them, they handle and perform as well my mudlite's, not to mention they have a very mean look to them. My next set will be the zilla's most likley.

Went riding last week with about 20 guys, a few had the 589's, a guy with the older vampires, one or two with the zillas, a few with mud lites and one or two with the XTR. One guy had the 27" silver backs...man those are a sick tire!!! The rest of the guys were stock.

Hit some nasty stuff...The guy with the silver backs had no problems!!! The 589's did real well as did the guy with the old vampires, this guy also said the new design vamps aren't as good in his opinion. Mud lites, not impressed. XTR, not bad, not great.

We rode on a lot of hardpack trails as well, as to be expected the silverbacks rattled that guys fillings loose! Of course the stock tires rode the smoothest, guys with the zillas said not bad and mud lites/xtr's not bad.

If I rated the tires this weekend for the mud, in this order, silver backs, 589's and vampires tie, zillas, XTR, mud lites, polaris stock tires, and so on. For hard pack it seemed to me it was pretty much a reversed order as to be expected. During beer breaks we bs's about the tires, the guys with the 589's, vamps, XTR and zillas said they performed really well in the snow. One guy with lites hated them for everything...he and his honda were stuck alot so he was a little pissy.

I had 589's on my old kodiak, they were a great mud and snow tire, from MN here...lots of ice fishing and I really liked the way they performed in deep snow. They wore like iron as well! After watching the machines/tires and how they performed last week...now I remember why I liked my 589's so much and of course my polaris! As soon as I got home I put 26'" 589's on the top of my Christmas list! Not a great tire if you run hardpack alot but if your a mud and snow, through the woods rider like myself I think they are a great choice.

 

Umm...just wondering if you think I could fit 27x9x12 and 27x11x12 Zillas on a stock 500 Sportsman or am I going to run into clearance issues. Oh and they do look pretty mean. Also, what does everyone think of Interco Swamp Lites heard they were sweet.
