I gotta Rant and Rave

sorry guys i'll keep my efi. sit all winter w/ out even starting it and in about 3 seconds it fires right up and purrs. all of my carb models(differnt bikes) never started or ran that good when sat for 6 months. i know there have been differnt issues w/ some of the efi bikes(just like the piece of crap RXL polaris made) but for the most part they are dead on. imo

The worst thing about carbs is the guys who don;t know how to tune them but keep screwing with them. The best thing about EFI is that there is nothing for the same guys to tinker with. LOL

cant argue w/ you on that one lol actually i've been told and pretty much belave it, that a well tuned carb in racing will be the best over an efi engine. the older i get the more lazy i get. turn key and go, no fooling around and tunning anymore lol.

That's why I will never sell my 1988 Honda 300. Simple and easy! Yes, it's as slow as a turtle but the thing will start everytime I get on it. I have had only one issue with the carburetor and that was because I got a tank full of dirty gas once. I have put in about 4 spark plugs and about 4 batteries. One set of tires and 2 back wheels. Other than general regular service that's it!
If I ever do get another one for myself I am going to still keep my old '88!!!

EFI is great if your trading them and dealing them in every few years for a new one...............A 10 old EFI is not really around yet to work on?...Correct?

Well, I have a '99 Sport 400L 2 stroke, and a '00 TRX400EX, and bought a new Kawasaki KFX 450R this year that has fuel injection.
Out of those 3 bikes, my old 400L starts fastest and best... without even touching the choke.
My Honda is a pain in the rear... starts, dies, starts dies, then finally runs and warms up.
My Kawasaki fuel injection is very nice. I like it, but it has not been without fault.
I've had my ups and downs with it... that's for sure...
After much thought, here is my conclusion....
Fuel Injection is great.... it's the "E" in EFI that is the frustration on ATV's.
The batteries are small and weak, and the system consumption is high, and the electrical components that go along with the injector to make everything work are kind of sketchy this early on.
Putting this sort of stuff on an ATV right now is pretty much like subjecting it to it's worst enemy... all of the elements, and rough living.
I'm comfortable with carbs and like them from the standpoint of "I can fix them easily myself"... and I hate trying to chase down an electrical glitch pretty badly I have found... But I have also seen what EFI has to offer, so I don't really want to go back. I'd rather see this aspect move forward and improve for ATV use.
