From what I'm hearing there isn't a tire that will even come close to competing with Tracks in snow.

If thats the case, I may as well hold out for a good deal on some used tracks sometime next year (need the job 1st). As of now I really don't want to buy another toy (snowmobile) because I've got too much stuff now and don't want another thing to care for & insure (just thinking out loud).

I already have chains, but they just dig and help to hang up the ATV. I was hoping that an aired down wider tire up front would float like in sand on a beach where trucks air down to keep moving on top od the soft sand.

Thanks for that link, I had looked at the Rincon site from your earlier post, but I must have missed the conversation regarding the flotation advantage of the Bighorn's.

I may give those a try..... when I can afford to.

Glad you were able to open the link. They are really great tires for the snow. I was able to go places with my old 3 wheel drive Rincon that had BH's that Sportsman 4wd's could not go with stock tires. I will get a set for my new one as soon as I too have some extra hobby money.

 

Yes, the bighorns or stock tires work good in the snow. Stock tires don't have as many sharp biting edges as the bighorn though which makes them superior in the snow. If you run at real low pressure they flex well and almost float. Obviously works even better on lighter quads.

I was thinking that a wider tire up front would help quite a bit, rather than having them dig down like my stockers did last year. That was truely a real bad day on the lake with ~6" of slush below the 12 + inches of snow.

That is why I aske how wide can I go up front before running into problems like turning the tie-rod, end for end (an easy option).

 

I can't accurately answer that for you. Most use aftermarket wheels and even then, I'm not exactly sure how wide you can go.
