Default Belt cover noise??

Well on my 2006 Sp 450 today .....When slowing down close to idle , I hear a rattle noise comming from the belt cover?

Goes away at full idle and when increasing the throttle it's gone also??
It is only there just before slowing down all the way to a complete stop ,But not when stopped at idle.

Any ideas?

Never did take the plastic belt cover off yet to see if the are any marks on the inside housing yet......That will be my next step.....
Are the buttons (wear) on the primary?
I know on the snowmobile ckutch the wear on the secondary side.......Thanks....Caper........

i think you might have answered your own question w/ the buttons being a little worn. you know the drill, pull the cover and take a peek.

I will take a look inside there this week sometime,Never did have the belt cover off either one of the 450's yet!!.
Now the time to inspect whats going on in there with the miles at 3000.
I will keep you posted on what I find.........Caper.

With these ATV clutch SET-up are they close to the same as a sled?
Buttons should be on the secondary?
Correct?

there are the buttons(some call them ramps) on the secondary(driven/trans. clutch) that the helix runs on which do wear out and cause a bog or maybe a shifting problem. the primary(drive/engine clutch) has buttons which are where the spider ramps slide up in down on. these are the ones that will wear and cause almost like a rattling effect.

Yes I am used to checking and changing the Secondary ones on the snowmobile(Helix).
I guess I need a special tool to pull the primary clutch off ..Correct?

yes. you need to pull the spider off and requires specail tools. when you pull the primemary cover off, you should be able to move the spider around and see if it has alot of movement of the slides agaist the buttons.
