2002 sportsman 500 h.o. stator problem

Default 2002 sportsman 500 h.o. stator problem

my batterie keeps dyin and the stator wont keep in charged. i took the over off where the stator, now i dont know how to take the flywheel off, i think theres a tool but no totally sure. and also my awd is messed up i think, the front cv axles spin but the tires dont.

Have your battery load tested for a bad cell,if its a new battery check that you are getting around 14-14.5 volts with a volt meter when above idle. If still not charging check that all 4 connectors at regulator/rectifier at front left of machine have good connection. Most of the time charging problems are reg/rectifier related,bad/poorly ground connections at battery,etc. Can be the stator,but check these out first. Awd system is electric and mechanical,must have 12 volts to work. If battery is bad/not charging,awd wont work! OPT

o got ya, i already bought a new stator and rectifier. im have no clue how to get the flywheel off. how do you know if there is a bad ground

Did you have any luch getting the flywheel off? I am having the same issue.

ya it was a pain. i had to use a regurlar car puller. had to spray it to make it loose and let it sit over night.

Thanks, same thing for me, it took a car puller, quite a few bent bolts and washers, and a lot or effort. But it eventually came off.
