Cool

Ive got a 2006 hawkeye. At about 1000 miles I noticed a crack in the right rear A-arm mount and in the swaybar mount. I took it to the dealer but they said they couldnt do anything about it, so I took it off and had it welded and reinforced. Now I have 1700 miles with no problems but I do keep a check on it.

Everything I've read about this problem is it is only the '06 Hawkeye's that have the problem. Apparently Polaris "fixed" the problem for '07. I have an '07 Hawkeye and have never had problems. I do check it frequently though.

The only problem I've had was the lower rear control arm bolt backed out when the nut came off. I fixed that by making a tab that is bolted on with the other bolt on the rear "yoke" that covers the head of the control arm bolt. That way it cannot back out.

My wifes 06 Hawkeye just broke off those lower A-Arm tabs today while riding in Edinsburg, VA. It was a pain getting it off the trail. Found the part but its for 07 and up. Not sure if it will work because purepolaris.com still show two different p/n, I was hoping that the 07-up p/n would superceed the 06 p/n. Any ideas?

I added some photos in my garage. I know this is an old thread, but can photos be posted showing what repairs/welding were done.

Thanks in advance.

I have an 09 Sportsman 400. Is this the same frame? And has Polaris corrected the problem from 06?

Yes, the replacement for is the part for the 07 hawkeye (Thats when they corrected the problem). The replacement is identical with the exception of the tabs being reinforced. I have had my replacement part on for about a year or more with no issues. I put mine on myself as my dealer wanted to charge me an arm, a leg, and a couple of extra toes for the labor do the work. Took me about an hour.

Recieved the 07 up rear frame member. It's beefed up on the front tabs where the lower control arms bolt goes thru. No issues so far.
