Default Recall Woes

Well after 3 years of procrastination, I finally had to take my Hawk in to the dealer for the steering stem recall. The handle bars were starting to wiggle too much for my comfort. That was on Friday, the head honcho said they would start the tear down right away and would give me a call for a time estimate for completion. Well....haven't heard anything yet, maybe today I hope. If past repair work is any indication, I'm looking at 2 - 3 weeks before my wife can go pick it up. A real bummer since Friday turned out to be a beautiful day to go riding. Oh well...there's always next month.

Hope they can get it all back together so you can enjoy some good fall riding.

Yea, me too. I asked them to check if any other recalls need to be done on it, I saw somthing on CPSC about a front bearing carrier that needs to be fixed also. But I have no idea what that is. I haven't had any problems with the front end. (yet)

Well I got my Hawkeye back from the dealer last Wednesday. They replaced the handlebar mounting bracket and the left and right front hubs. I took it out for a ride today....wow, what a difference . It didn't grab ruts or jump all over the trail at higher speeds...very controllable now. I would post pics but they don't want seem to want to cooperate copying and pasting from photo bucket.

I got my Hawk back from the dealers last week , figured I'd post some pics of the recalled parts that were replaced.

I wish I'd had this work done sooner, the bike rides much nicer now. It doesn't grab ruts anywhere near as bad as it used to. Lazy I guess!!
