Why????????

I found this article about GM and Toyota and why things are the way they are with auto industry. It's a old article but still worth a read! IMHO Americans still have one (and ONLY) thing going for them and its the Full size truck industry but when it comes to cars its anyone's guess as to who builds the best one!

I can't just sit here and let you all badmouth the japs and what they've done to the auto industry.
I mean honestly, have you seen what they've done to the cartoon industry???
Wile E Coyote could kick Pokemon or anyone of their cartoon asses.

I guess if it's cool to say that anything made in Japan is 'jap made' and that those of Japanese ancestry are 'japs'.....then would it be ok for me to call blacks the 'N' word? Same thing, right? Just trying to understand what (if any) rules exist here. If not...that's fine. But I will still call it as I see it.

Yep, and they also have more money to put into research and development. Same, to a lesser degree, as Nissan. Every article I've read about the plants that are non-unionized Japanese auto makers shows that the employees are treated well and don't want to be unionized. On the research front, I remember reading an article about Toyota's research team taking a bunch of auto journalists out for a ride in the soon to be released Tundra. They were out in the dust of some Texas dirt road. They let the journalists beat on the trucks and the trucks were taking the abuse fine. Well, one of them was ripping along when a family of javelina pigs ran out and one of them got caught up in the right steering members and the right wheel well. The research team got out and started taking notes on how to make the front end even stronger to stand up to that kind of impact. Kind of like Dodge did with the newest 1500 when they let a bunch of guys beat the tar out of them.

I quess you missed the whole point, non union plants pay near as much $$$ and the cars cost more. So how do you figure its unions fault?
I've worked in both union and non union plants. You bet I prefer union.
Forgetting what unions did for wages, job security, safety etc... is like forgetting George Washington.
Do you union bashers ever work a union job or just bashing from heresay?
Remeber a few years back when Levi left the US and union to go to Mexico? Levis cost the same but Mexican workers don't get paid near as much, where's the extra $$$ go?

I seem to remember my grandfather calling them japs. Some called them nips. But I guess they should have been more politically correct and called them eastern asians with a strong possibility of having japanese heritage.
Next time your standing out on a front line, just see how well that works to relay any information to your fellow platoon members.

The examples you are stating are hearsay. We all see how the union worker works for their wages. Usually it's 1 out of 10 pulling their weight.

People say their "Toyota" or "Yamaha" is made in a plant in the USA; However, all the parts for the machine comes from china and all the money (profit) that is made goes right back to china. So all you are supporting is some factory jobs and thats it. Where when you buy a Ford and their parts count is 90% USA parts and 10% Canada for their trucks you are fully supporting the USA. Most any small town does not have any forgein dealer in it as far as vehicles or ATVs, because they would not sell there.
