Default Battery install gone bad

I have a 04 Sportsman 500 that i was putting a new battery in, the 3rd or 4th since getting it. Out of ignorance and hurrying, i hooked the ground to the positive and touched the positive wire to the negative post and heard sizziling and saw a touch of smoke. Immediately i took the battery off and started tearing the skin off my ride. What I found was the ECM smoking. I replaced it, and now I can't get any spark. I checked the CDI and it doesn't seem to be getting any voltage to it. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

there is a circuit breaker im the wire harness ( i dont know where tho) that could have tripped. your cdi could be smoked too. those finicky dc electronics do not like reversed polarity.

it's never good when the battery is reversed for sure. stator, cdi, either could get fried. sounds like if the ecm got it then the circuit breaker didnt work but hard to say. good luck.
