2006 X2 Rear Brake Issues
#1
Hi All. My auxilliary brake lever goes all the way down and won't work the rear brakes. Read several posts that indicated they needed to be bled. The handlebar lever is working the front brakes only and not all 4 brakes like the manual says it does. Tried bleeding the rears and nothing but a few drops of brake fluid comes out. No air and no pressure like normal. Both reservoirs are full. Any idea's? I'm kind of leaning to something in the plunger assembly that the pedal depresses. It is not coming back out. Not really sure though, don't know enough about these brake systems. Any help is greatly appreciated. Front brakes work normally.

I had the rear brake cylinder freeze on my quad. It is stuck in the cylinder. I asked about it and in my case it doesn't hinder anything. Both rear and fronts work. Like yours, mine was the cylinder that you activate using the foot lever. The guys at my dealership said it won't change how the brake lever on the handlebars works both brakes. I'm not sure why you don't have rear brakes. Did the line get crimped along the way?

I'm 99% sure there's no crimped lines or anything like that but I'll take another peek in the morning. Did the dealer recommend any ways to free up the piston? Thanks for your help. Anything is helpful when something weird happens like this.

I tried a bunch of methods and the dealer said they tried a bit. They didn't want to heat it up which could cause other damage. I think a new one was about $120. I thought that was pretty steep for something I don't use much at all. I checked my pads and the braking on all tires. Everything seemed okay. No excess wear on the rear which tells me the rear brakes aren't constantly on. When I put it in neutral I can push it okay. When I have it up on stands and the brake handle in emergency brake mode all four tires don't spin. You might try seeing if your brakes are working the rear brakes when the handle is pulled. I'd put it in neutral, jack up the rear, and pull the lever on the handlebars, lock the parking brake and see if the rears spin.
