2006 Hawkeye Question?
#1
Just sealed the deal on a 2006 Hawkeye 2X4. I have been reading about the weak points with the weld points when it is abused... .ie.. Jumped... Other than that is this a good quad. I got it for a real good price, should I flip it or keep it in stable for the wife to ride around with the young daughter behind?

i always say everything is for sale for the right price(which makes you good money), but if you don't sell it, it's a good bike for the family for sure. don't know if the updated carb work was done on it as they did have a few issues w/ some of the bikes.

There were a few recalls for the 06 Hawkeye, your best bet is call or to take it to a dealer and have the vin looked up to make sure the recalls were done. Also, check the front mounting tabs for the rear a-arms. that particular problem didn't make it as a recall item. There a few threads on the subject if you have any questions. Mine took a couple of years to break with just normal trail riding (no jumping). However just for your piece of mind, once the bugs were worked out my Hawkeye has been a great trail bike....and hopefully will continue to be for a long time!! It hauls my big rear end around so it should be a great ATV for your wife.

I bought my 06 Hawkeye 2x4 new and it has been a great quad, it has taken me places that some 4x4 quads would not go. I have not abused the bike as it has 33 hrs and 350 miles on it, but it does well with me and my son on it during hunting and has packed deer out the last two years.

We were out hunting Javalinas and there was this mountain with a very rocky road and step decent, the hunter in front of us in rancher 4x4 started up and quickly came back down, my son and I not using better judgment went up the hill on the Hawkeye, I did need to use my legs for rudders a couple of time but we made to the top.
Please see mountains in the right of the pictures.
Caper,
Others could have made it but it also shows that this little quad can do much more than people think. I had to settle on this quad as it and the rancher were the only ones that would fit in my truck and I could not afford a 4x4. If I had to do it over I would make the same choice as it carries my son (120lbs) and me (180) very well.
