This was copied from Polaris. Note the last line about using the winch with the tube bumpers. This is regarding the Warn 2500. Am I stuck with the 2000 lb version? Thanks for putting up with this issue.

Your neighbor will thank you every time you pull him and his ATV out of the mud. This is our largest, hardest pulling winch. Features a powerful .9hp, 12 volt DC motor, advanced planetary gear system, 3/16" x 50' cable, handlebar mounted remote switch. Includes roller fairlead for less cable wear. This winch works with all Sportsman, Magnum, Xplorer and other ATV models with composite plastic racks, except for the Sportsman 500 RSE/DUSE or any model with double, tube-bumper.

SO what is the difference between a 2000 and 2500 warn winch? I have a 2000 with the 2500 upgrade kit on my RSE, I thought it was just solonoid, remote, and heavy wiring. Could someone explain what is different, thanks.

Subfan,

If the 2,500lb winch won't work with your quad, or the 2000lb winch with the upgrade to the 2500lb, maybe you could ask your dealer if you could trade your front tube bumper for a flat bumper; the kind that works with a winch.

I e-mailed Polaris about this a while back, and they said that the front tube bumper is not rated for 2500 lbs. of pull. But it will fit. Another "Polaris" cover their butt warning. The actual winch itself is identical to the 2000 lb. unit, they just upgrade the electical.

The front bumper mount is just as sucure as the standard mount (uses the same bolt holes) so I dont know why it wouldn't work. Have both in stock and will check the differances Monday.

Thanks Chopper Bill..I want to get it ready for hunting in the fall. I don't want to spend the $ on the wrong winch. I have time to figure this out.

Below is the prompt response I received from Warn today when asked about the mounting issue with the RSE or DUSE. Guess I am ok.

Good Morning -

The A2500 and the A2000 are the same in dimensions so it should fit the
same. You will need to get the special mounting plate for the Remington
model directly from Polaris.

Personally, I'd spring for the multi mount kit!

That way you can carry it on the rear to pull you back out the way you went in if necessary!

It looks as though you could add the bumper to the winch cradle, OR custom fab a new one!
