sportsman 300 cv boot
I started to install a new c-v boot on my sons 300 sporty.then found that my nephew had borrowed the 500 shop manual,i was able to download the c-v replacement guide from this forum (thank you Stendori !).
Now the problem. The 300 c-v joint does not have a snap ring holding the joint to the axle. Does anyone know if it has a ring similar to where the axle connects to the transmission? I tryed tapping it apart but it seemed solid.
Any help with the difference 500 - 300 will be greatly appreciated.

c-v update
We tried the larger persuader but stopped after fearing for the joints life. Finally made time for a trip to our popo dealer. He beat on it for a time then decided to try to remove the other (wheel) end. 2 light taps later it is apart ( why didn"t I thnk of that ?). Back on the trail ,I"m not sure if that is exclusive to the 300 sportsman or how to disassemble the trans end ,but he is riding again
thanks all
