Help fix synthetic cable

Every year I switch my winch line (synthetic) from my 50' section to my plow rope (synthetic). All you gotta do is wrap a piece of electric tape as tight as you can around where you wanna make the cut then cut through the rope with a razor, cutting slightly towards the "waste side" of the rope...The tape keeps it from fraying...This enables me to thread it through the hole in the drum of the winch without much trouble...Sometimes I use a large cotter pin to push it through, then tie a knot as tight as you can and then respool.....
