X2 Wider than stock front tires & stock rear tire question
I have a 2008 Polaris 500 X2 with 25X8X12 front & 25X11X12 on the rear, does anyone know if I could add a slightly wider tire (9" wide) on the factory rims for my machine, that would be a great help.
I'm looking to add the wider tire up front to help me in the snow, but one that will work that alows me to keep my stock rear tires and won't ruin the 4X4 system as I don't want to really change the height?
I was thinking of a BigHorn, but they have a 25X8X12, is theirs wider than the factory tire of the same size or larger like the Zilla's are reported to be?

If you go to a 9" tire you will probably have to get a spacer. With the extra 1/2" of width on each side of the tire you will probably start rubbing the tie rod ends. I have the same problem. I bought 26" ITP Mudlite XTRs and put some washers to space it out a bit. I tried having my dealership put the tie rod ends mounted on the bottom of the strut where it connects. They said the steering was binding. I got a half inch spacer made by a local welder and bought longer wheel studs. I'm waiting for them to press the new studs in and mount everything up. Hopefully this will solve my problem.
