I do not like the rack rails ,I find they restick what you can load because it does not allow for overhang.

I put my main camping gear in a very large goalie hockey bag and it overhangs over the sides and back,with my rack rail it would not fit so there hanging on a wall in the garage now.

Here my friends 500 Honda with his smaller gear bag wraped in a blue tarp on the back rack,if he had rack rails it would just not fit.

Notice we use no hard boxes,they let evething inside rattle around unlike budgied down soft bags.



No way we could load this heavy 30hp outboard on the little Big Bear if the back racks had rails like the front rack has.

It all depends IMO on what you are doing and what you are loading. Those bags on the rear could very easily lay inside and scurry over the rails. Or IF that was a problem then you could lay across rail to rail so that wouldn't inhibit wide loads IMO.

Another point if I may is that you could always remove your racks if you do a trip with no loads and such, yes a inconvenience but it doesn't show stop future needs IF you were to not use the rack ext. Again all my opinion.

It would be nice if there was some type of rack ext. lock and ride accessory. Not sure how it would be designed but just a thought.

Yea see this AC rack accessory. I hate to show some of Polaris fierce competitors, lol. But as much as I am a fan and supporter of Polaris products I have always really like Arctic Cat's speedrack accessory system. Seems like they have something similar to what we were talking about. A drop pin (their design) type rack ext add on to their bar rack system. Also like those rubber grips on them for extra protection etc. good design! Why don't you see these types of accessories on many of the other ATV brands bar racks systems?

I like that idea,AC buts that on there rear carrier of the utiity Bear Cat sled also,where the rails can fold down for a larger load area if the rail are in the way for larger objects.

 

I gotta say that cheap lookin' tube steel is not that attractive to me. The design is cool though. If I tried to carry an outboard on the racks, that stuff would be bent like a pretzel in a matter hours. I think the Polaris L/R stuff is more rugged.
