NGK Laser Irridium #6043 (ILZKAR7A10). I had a couple places tell me this plug doesn't exist, trust me - I'm holding the box in my hand. I think I got mine from sparkplugs.com - You may want to see if the local store will order them for you, may be cheaper shipping. They work great so far - but, I still let it warm up before thinking about touching the throttle...Jeff

From what I understand: Polaris did a recall/change in the Champion Plugs from a temperature rating of (6) "REA6MC" to a heat rating of (8) "REA8MCX". The main reason for the fouling is not letting the machine warm up prior to touching the gas which plays havik on the plugs; thus the higher heat rating. That's why I like the one's I have because it's a better plug and a temp rating of (7). They are made for a 6.2 liter Mercedes Benz and the NGK rep himself did all the research based on specs to find this plug for my buddy. Maybe they came out with something else, but the temp rating on the one's you listed are a (6) and changed by Polaris to an (8).

These are for the 09' 850XP, not sure about 2010' changes.

Interesting. I'll have to ask the dealer. My 850 in an '09 too. I've never had a hint of fouling and I blip the throttle like you said, no re-flash either.

Trust me - eventually it will just roll over. When I pulled the plugs they didn't even look that bad. They said the problem was that the salesmen at the dealer's like to start up the machines and rev the throttle right away to show off the "throaty rumble" of the 850 engine - they do this as the machines computer is trying to calibrate the fuel injection/RPM's and it directly effects the plugs. Before mine went I was doing a lot of firing it up and moving it here and there while cleaning the garage or unloading from the trailer etc.

I did buy some of the new Champion plugs for back up on the trail $3 each compared to $12 each.

Deer....You are correct. I called my dealer back (parts guy) and asked that he double check the spark plugs he gave me based on what you're saying here. Sure enough, it's the wrong part according to Polaris. They now list the "REA8MCX" as the correct plug for an '09 XP 850.

Why is it that one has to double-check pretty much every part one orders? Seems the odds of getting it right these days are low. Great for the shipping companies though. Same goes for a lot of businesses.

The 850's plug is an oddball, the only plugs made that are specified for it are the Chamion plugs.
The NGK ILZKAR7A10 is not technically spec'd for the 850 because it's heat range is slightly different,it is actually designed specifically for one vehicle, the Mercedes E63 AMG...just so happens the demensions are the same as the 850 plugs, which again are an oddball size in the US,a little more common in Europe.
The ILZKAR7A10 can be found readily online, but it is harder to find local. I'm not even sure it shows up in NGKs US catalog,I oringinally found it in the European catalog.
There is also an NGK Platinum plug with the same demensions that will work...I think I posted that part number in another thread here a while ago.
Bottom line is if you want a plug other that the Champion or the NGK I listed then be ready to do some reasearch....there are probably others out there that will work..but someone will need to dig them up by their specs.
