Default ITP Mud Lites new compound????

I was looking up the mud lites on the itp web page to find the weight of them compared to others I've been looking at. Alot of people haven't been liking the mud lites b/c they wear out fast, but now they're advertising that they're using the same rubber in the 589's to give them longer tread life but the weights apparently didn't go up. I like that tire b/c I can go up to a 28'' w/o adding a ton of weight like the ddII's or the outlaw mst's. The guys over on the HL forum really dog these tires, but I'm not a mud nut like alot of those guys over there, so what are your oppinions on them as far as functionality for trail, snow, reg. trail mud, plowing and chores?? I'm curious b/c they are the most affordable big tire w/ 1 1/8" lugs.

Well here in Ontario ,Canada..........I think they are the #1 best selling replacement tire out there.........At least all the guys I know and ride the trails (wooded) seem to like them........I will tell you this, When it time for replacement on my two Sp 450's I will be getting ITP mud-lights......Caper............

Hmm, that's interesteing about the different compound, if it is indeed the compound from the 589's, or a similar one, they should wear like iron as do the 589's

I would also check out the Maxxis Zilla's, they are also a very light but good tire, and they're very cheap

That is interesting indeed! I put a new set of XL's on this spring 09 and have put several hundred miles on them so far (on and off road)without hardly any signs of wear what so-ever. I don't know if they are new compound but I am still impressed with the way they are wearing. What I like about them so far: Excellent traction in mud and snow, handle well off road/and on trails, smooth ride, very durable. What I don't like: At speeds in excess of about 30mph. on the road they feel as if you are wandering a bit, not very turf friendly in the XL's, but then again who said they were supposed to be? My overall impression: Good all around tire at a decent price. Also take a peek at the maxxis zilla's
