Default CV Boot Replacement

Hey guys, so I was out ridin in the snow last weekend, and I got some baling twine wrapped wround my a-arm, and my cv boot, and it split it in 2, so I got a replacement kit from the dealer and plan on doing the swap sometime over the long weekend, I have the service manual, I just wanted to see if anybody who has done it a time or 2 had any tips for me.

Thanks in advance
PS I have an 07 Sportsman 700

Lot of rags.......Use the new grease pack with the boot kit.
Do you get the kit?
Boot,two clamps and grease?
Do you have a tool for the clamps or are you just using pliers for clamping/un-clamping?
Keep everthing very clean,No dust dirt sand...etc....
Also clean off the axle and old boot area very well to prevent and particles from getting in when do the install.
Any questions just ask, I did one myself (rear inside one) and the ring inside that needs to be compressed may be a bit of a pain when prying it off..other than that not too bad of a job............Caper...........

Yes, I got the kit with the 2 clamps, boot, grease, and snap ring. I don't have the tool, I just plan on using pliers. Did you use pliers, or the proper too? Can it be done with just pliers?
Also I washed it off good, so debris in around the area shouldn't be too much of a problem

I made a tool at work ...I took a pair of G&B brand wire Crimpers and used a die grinder to make two very little teeth or tips at the end to fit into the very small hole for grip............I just was worried about using pliers or any other common hand tool .........Do to the fact of bending the steel clamp and not making it snap tight..................But when I did the job , it took very little pressure to clamp/un-clamp the two boot clamps..........Caper............

Good luck, I've only done one, but the clamp was a bear. There was no way I could clamp it tight enough with pliers. Tried larger channel locks, no luck. Finally got it done using vice grips. It had me worried that I was going to wreck it. Good luck, hope yours goes alot easier than mine.

I used a set of KLEIN side suttters (flat bill pliers) for the clamps and they worked great. Be sure to clean the joint well and fill with the Polaris supplied grease and you will have no problems. I have done two and have had no problems.

If you have a dealer close by bring the axle in once the boot is ready to clamp. If they are a good dealer they will clamp it for nothing. Wouldn't hurt to invest in or fab your own as you may need to do an emergency repair on the trail some time. Zip ties work in a pinch if needed to limp out.
