Default Pull start rope ?

How do you get the rope out of the handle to replace the rope? Or does this have to be bought as an assembly.
Thanks Bill

It can be replaced and it is just like replacing the rope in a lawn mower.

The oem replacement ropes now comes as an assy (rope and molded handle) even if you have the old separate earlier version You can always go to a small equiptment/lawn mower place if you want to replace the rope and handle separately. OPT

Thanks for your help. It appears I have the molded handle on both rides. I have replaced many ropes in chain saws and lawn mowers, but have never seen a handle like these. I may cut into the handle to see if I can modify it so I can retain the seal to the case, or go after market as OPT suggested and fab a seal.

Well,I got impatient in the shop tonight and studied the pull handle, said to myself no way this can be serviced. It got the drill press and band saw treatment. The plain truth is OPT was correct. The rope is molded into the handle ,plastic with a rubber coating. I can now reuse this handle, but I saw some repacement handles for polaris snow mobiles. I am just concerned with sealing the recoil housing. I hate having to use the dealer

Discussing the pull rope, anybody have the pull rope coil work so hard to pull. We always use the battery start but, would like to fix this issue with the hard pull.
Thanks, (1999 Polaris Magnum)
