Chain question

Default Chain question
there a funny looking black piece that i think the chain rides on. is this what puts tension on the chain if so how does this work, and whats the name of this part i need a new one. its a 98 sportsman 400

thats the chain slider. it only protects the swingarm. if your chain is loose then you need to tighten it by twisting the axle carrier until its the correct tension
