Default Check Engine light at start up - 2007 Sportsman 500 Sportsman

I have an 07 Polaris Sportsman 500. I started it up the other day and the check engine light flashed, then went off again, but it was revving really high. There was a little hour glass on the display. I don't know what caused it. The only thing I have done to it is change the oil. I have had it since it was new. Any ideas?

How many hours on it? Probably means it's due for service. The check engine light will come on when you start it up and go off after a bit. It's set by hours on the bike according to the speedo readout, sort of like the reminder lights on cars and trucks. The manual will tell you how to reset it if you do your own service, but if you want to ignore it, no problem there.

Thanks,

Besides changing the oil, what service is there to do? No grease points that I can see?

There are actually quite a few. Check the the A-arms front and rear, and the drive shaft. Don't have my book with me, just look for the zerk fittings. (ignore the brake bleed zerk)

in all reality. theres not that many. my 08 only has about 8 or so. but thats nothing to the 20-30 that were on my 2000 sportsman. everything had one. a-arms (front, rear, top rear), cv-joints, steering stem, irs parts, ball joints, and im shure more im forgetting. i think its dumb they whent to pretty much all sealed points. i was dissapointed on the few that are on my 08.
