Default Help Sportsman X2 500 2008 Transmission

It seems both the Clymers manual and the orginal owners manual both show both the drain and fill plug for the rear transmission with lug nuts. They also say they are on the right side of teh transmission.

I changed the oil on my transmission but both my fill and drain plug required a metric allen to get the drain and fill plug out. The drain plug was on the right side but the fill plug was on the left.

Am I missing something here, did something change for both the owners and Clymer manual to be wrong?

Any comment would be great!

Thanks, New member

Default Thanks another question

That make me feel better.

How often do you recommend changing the front drive? The manual says 2 years but I keep talking to people who have never changed this for over 10 years? Is the manual service time recommendations usually this conservative?

I have changed the oil on my polaris 4 times now with 610mi or 118hrs. Most people I talk to think I am over doing it. The oil is dark every time I change it.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
