Default Bent Frame

I was out playing today omn my 700 Sportsman when the ball joint snapped, this dropped my A-Arm into the ground at 20 mph. long story short i was spun 90 degrees, the rear of the bike almost came over and I have a nice bend in the frame right where my A-Arm connects. Is there a way to fix this or is the bike toast?

I would use a torch to get that red hot and bend that back as best as possible. Stendori has the right idea. Its an atv, it doesnt have to be perfect. I would unbolt anything around that area that might hinder ease of movement.--Dave

I agree to, I think you should be able to fix it, if you could find someone with a wheeler just like yours, you could get some measurements to go from to help you get it closer to the way it was.

Good advise, heat can be your friend, but be carefull not to over do it. I would see what you can do without heat first and then go from there. A very small bottle jack works nice for tight areas.

You can also weld in some reinforcement gussets to strenghten the area if you are worried about it being weak after straightening it.

If you can't get at it to bend it, or it is kinked badly, don't forget you can cut it out and weld another straight piece in its place. Any welder can tranfer any brackets useing what bolts up to the brakets as a template, to make sure they are placed correctly.

Just make sure the tubing is of the same wall thickness or greater. Good luck.

Good news, hopefully you can come out ahead money wise. How do the work the registration numbers when you get a new frame or one off of eBay?

I register and insure it using the new frames serial number, the best part is the frame is from an 04, instant value increase.
