After seeing another bashing posted regarding the scrambler 2x4 shoot out with the Honda 400 EX I posted a note asking when are Honda going to come up with a true performance 4x4 quad like the 500 scrambler 4x4.After being veiwed many times no one could come up with any kind of answer not one reply from the honda forum.I wouldnt buy a 500 2x4 because for me the weight only justifys a 4x4 but racing this compared to a 400 ex or a raptor is stupid there totaly different animals. So I say get me a sport 4x4 that comes up to the class of a Scrambler.I think if most hondas were put through the riggers of severe off road and mud slinging as most 4x4 scramblers are put through, there reliability record would start to go down.I like honda and they do make good utility quads but when it comes to sport 4x4 with 2x4option they cant put a quad together or dare'nt.

The sad part is thats the scramblers only competition, put it against any other machine and the scrambler will waste'em.

Yes but they didnt use the 2stroker which is better suited to 2wheeling they used the 500 which is a big pig as a 2wheeler and certainly no good against the likes of raptors and 400ex's.

The problem is that the magazine writers can afford to judge a machine on narrow standards. ( sport or utility ) We can't always afford to have two machines so we have to compromize. The scrambler 4X4 is the best compromize out there.

I think that Yamaha could make something like this out of their Wolverine. They could throw their 660R engine in it and have it be 2WD or 4WD by pushing a button. Just a thought.....

I hope someone makes another full sport 4x4 and your probably right it'll no doubt be Yamaha.I had a Wolverine it was a great machine before i got my Scrambler but if theres anyone like me out there who tried the scrambler out and immediatly put my wolverine for sale then Im sure Yamaha will be chasing up on a alot of lost buyers in the sport 4x4 market.

I agree about the EX not holding up as well if it was used like Scramblers get used. Though after owning Honda I still do not see were they hold up any better, at least mine did not. Yeah a 660 Wolverine now tht would rock! they have the Wolverine and they have the 660 motor team them up that would be a killer quad. Honda will not make one they are to conservative to do anything wild.

You are right on the Scrambler 4x4 is in a class all buy itself it is not even fair to put the wolverine in the same class. I know the Wolverine is marketed as a sport 4x4 but the power difference between the 2 is outrageous I am not saying the Wolverine is a bad bike but the Scrambler is just in a class all it's own.
Now like one of you said take the 660 put it in a wolverine frame add a push button 4x4 a little longer travel suspension and my Scrambler will be for sale........well maybe not I still like the looks of the Scrambler can I have both

Have a good one

I'm not sure why its so cool to cut down Polaris machines. I spent a lot time reserching and rideing different 4-weelers before i decided on my purchase. Honda's Yamaha's and Polaris's. The Polaris group i rode with had very little to complain about. Some of these machines were used like tractors all week and MXers on the weekend. My guess is that is why they have a bad rap. they are ridden more that a couple (fun) rides a year. My choice was easy, Polaris. Both because of the performance and price, no one else even comes close. No other Manufacturer can touch a 65 MPH sport quad for $5000.00, lets get real now. USA is OK.
