I read a few posts basically saying that if there is not enough oil in the pump at higher rpm's its possible to seize the pump? the reason why they remove the pump and block it off? so basically with a broke cable the pump is closed and wouldnt put oil in the pump.

thanks for any advice.

The pump itself gets oil by gravity feed and would have an endless supply of oil as long as the oil tank is full. Since the cable is broken it just won't put out the correct amount at high rpm to the motor as the pump arm will not come off of it's "idle" position. The guys blocking off there oil pumps are wanting to pre-mix it only and wouldn't have that supply from the tank and the pumps would run dry, ruining them, or siezing them.

He should be fine as long as there is oil in the oil tank.
