This is wierd .. the starter switch on my 2000 sp 500 stoped working. I know it;s the switch as we jumped the battery to the starter and that worked. We have been starting it for a couple weeks by the recoil and the other day we had it running .. turned it of and for the hell of it I tried the button and it worked! Went out latter and it would not work... after running it the button would work. We also noticed taht it was not just running .. the fan had to be going in order for the button to work! Anyone have any ideas?

Beyond wierd. But you need to check your ground connections. Really strange electrical problems are usually due to a ground issue.
