right... cause the pics I posted of my sp800 stuck in a mud bog and blasting through 2'+ deep mud holes looks like my garage... and every single sport quad with an aftermarket front grab bar (all aluminum alloy) must do nothing but sit in a garage, AND I'm sure no one is using aluminum skid plates to bounce & slide off rocks- FWIW, some high-strength aluminum alloys like 6061 with a T6 temper is Pound for pound stronger than some steel alloys. So I wouldn't go knocking anyone using aluminum bumpers just because of a poor bracket design.

I'd be looking at the first thing that is going to take an impact without a bumper. Radiator, oil cooler, frame, a-arms?

I folded a bumper on a tree. Trail I'd been on a hundred times too. Still bent an a-arm, but at least I could ride it back to the truck. Without it, I'd have hit on the end of the frame. No telling how much damage that would have done, or what it would cost to repair. As it was, it still cost 130 bucks.

good advice- I knew a rider who went blasting into a mud hole and had a 2" stick go through his radiator from underneath-

Yup that exact thing happened to a friend of mine...I run a Jamhard rad protector ...I know my Polaris bumper will not stop a stick from going thru the rad but the Jamhard does a good job...The Guru bumper offer the extra added expanded metal mesh in the front which is really nice...

ATV-Guru Polaris bumpers

u need to calm down. did i say anything about YOU???? hum. NO. im talking about the PEOPLE THAT DO!!! did you read that part "THAT DO". buddy. aluminum has its places. but there are differnt prices for differnt bumpers and differnt grades. just cuz urs is alum dont mean u didnt get a low grade elcheapo bumper. plus it seems as if anything goes wrong its blamed on poor desine. and in most cases it is. but when ur using it as a tow hook when it wasent desined for that. thats more like human stupidy. i can say whatever i want. i have an opion. not to mention alota people buy there wheeler just to say they have one. or go out and buy the biggest and badest atv out there and add cheap junk just to go around there yard a few times. and tell everyone about it.
