Are bumpers a must?

I agree not a must but if you ever banged a tree or another quad by accident you'd know that bumpers do offer a degree of protection...The plastice is very expensive to replace...IMO...

I went the first year without one. The only time I was wishing I had them when you or the guy in front gets stuck in a rut and the quad behind gives a little nudge. I wasn't able to help out or let anyone give me a push.
I just bought some off of ebay. $60 bucks for the front, back, and a rear grab bar (which im going to sell). they were bare steel which is no big deal because I got to paint them the color I wanted.

I've got the rear on and once the snow is gone and I won't need my plow the front is going on.

Mostly for looks and driving over small brush. I used a rope to pull lightly when I was stuck in some mud and it nearly tore the rear bumper off- totally stripped out two attaching bolts. They are aluminum bumpers, bolted to aluminum brackets if that tells you anything. Even if you find a steel bumper, it's being attached via aluminum threads in an aluminum bracket. That's how it is on my 06 sp800 anyway.
